I will have a post later today about my first experience with the New York Comic-Con, plus later this week I will be diligently working on wrapping up my review of Ergo Proxy. I actually had to start to look at the whole series again to gain that experience of watching the series again.
Talk to all of you later..

Death Note-Book 1 April 18, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : manga , add a comment
What would you do if you were walking down a local street in your neighborhood and just happened to come across what looks like a black student note book?
Well, if your a 17 year old named Light Yagami you pick it up, even though the cover on the book says Death Note, and this book was left by a Shinigami ( or I like to say DEMON ) named Ryuk, who just happened to drop the book here on Earth because he was bored.
And thus begins the opening salvo of Death Note published by Shonen Jump, a story that involves not just Light and the Shinigami Ryuk, but also a detective unknown to anyone just named L….but I should elaborate just a little about what happened after Mr Yagami takes said Death Note to his home….
Light finds out how to use the note book with Ryuk’s help of course…it seems that if you write someone’s name down in this note book, they will die, but only as long as the person who has written the person’s name in the book has the person’s face in their mind when writing in the book…if a cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, their death will happens as written…if their death is not specified, they will die of a heart attack…after writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written within the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
The question is does the book really work or is it just a gimmick…well let me just say that not only does the book work, but light finds a unique way of using it…to better society…for the greater good of all…Light writes down the names of criminals, and he starts to experiment with what he can and can not do with the book, and this is what brings in the mysterious detective named L with his servant named Watari, who always seems to be dressed in a trench coat, carrying a laptop with which L is able to communicate with the local police force.
Well, I do not intend to give this whole thing away, but so far I have found the first book in this series interesting, with an excellent story written by Tsugumi Ohba, and fantastic artwork by Takeshi Obata
And for me it’s on to book #2

Batman Black & White- Jim Aparo April 17, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : Anime Figures , add a commentThis is my favorite listing, because I always thought Aparo’s Batman was the best Bat ever to grace a comics page period.
The popular BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE line of artist-inspired statues continues!
This rendering of the Caped Crusader is based on the cover image from
DETECTIVE COMICS #443, drawn by longtime Batman artist
Jim Aparo.
Painted in monochromatic tones, this statue is certain to be another sought-after addition to DC Direct’s line of BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE statues.
The statue measures approximately 6.5″ tall x 8″ wide x 5″ deep. It features a logo-shaped base, and is packaged in a black-and-white box.

Nugent’s Love Grenade April 15, 2008

Just in case you think that the Motor City Madman doesn’t have anything to offer the world as far as music goes…think again!
Uncle Ted ( Nugent ) is back with a vengeance on this 2007 release as a follow up to Craveman, and my favorite track so far is the title opus ” Love Grenade “, and while I really do not want to review the album, I do want to say that it is great to hear the Nuge in top form, and even greater that he has been around this industry for 5 decades now and doesn’t seem to have mellowed or disavowed any knowledge of his previous actions as far as his rock and roll roots go…take that Def Leppard!

This is my first con, and not sure what to expect but I do intend to have a great time, and as of this writing the weather promises to co-operate also!
My Review-Appleseed ExMachina
Posted by 54071 in : Anime Series Reviews , 1 comment so farHi There!
Okay, so this review is a day late so let’s get right to it….and before I start to write anything else let me just say that I was very impressed with ExMachina and that being said…
The year is A.D.2133 and the Earth’s inhabitants survive a non-nuclear war and the human race scrambles to pick up the pieces and in 2135, the city-state of Olympus rises from the ashes, a Utopian city -state that is the new hope for mankind.
Olympus, is the backdrop for the story of Appleseed ExMachina, a story which delves further into the relationship between two Eswat partners…namely Deunan and Briareos..Human, Cyborg…their working relationship and their love affair.
And a new partner for Deunan, a bioroid named Tereus, who just happens to be cloned from Briareos ( when he was human ) and winds up creating a sort of twisted love triangle.
The main story here revolves around a conspiracy involving humans and cyborgs, being controlled by a mysterious organization called Halcon, that is trying to bring a new world order under one type of leadership, with no conflicts or individuality.
Produced by the legendary film director John Woo and directed by Shinji Aramaki , who directed the first installment, Appleseed, the visuals alone in this ( not necessarily ) movie sequel are worth the price of admission, thanks to the technology of CGI, which just brings to life the visuals of this movie in a way just not possible without the technology, as evidenced by the first action sequence in a cathedral involving the Eswat team against possessed cyborgs, who have kidnapped several high ranking officials, and the the pan and zoom in scenes of Olympus.
As a matter of fact, the visuals for Olympus, are just breathtaking and would not be possible without CGI period, and yes, I know that hand drawn animation is still practiced, and while the results are always great using this technique, hand drawn just does not compare to CGI.
And of course a plus are the actions scenes, that feature slow motion action sequences , showing scenes of shell casings dropping in slow mo, as weapons are being fired, a John Woo trademark.
So, lets review…This story features amazing visuals, a love story that looks at the relationship between human and cyborg, a conspiracy involving unwitting humans and cyborgs, this Appleseed installment, can be watched without having seen the first film, and producer John Woo and directer Shinji Aramaki.
I promise that whether you actually buy this dvd or just rent it, you won’t be disappointed.

Death Note-The Manga April 13, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : Uncategorized , add a commentOkay, first I told you that this month would be kinda sparse as far as posts go, but just to catch you up…
I started to read the first of the 12 Death Note mangas, plus I finished Blood Plus#1 and Hellgirl #1.
I haven’t had the chance to watch Appleseed ExMachina yet ( yes, I know I’ve had the movie for better than two weeks now! ) and I still haven’t seen it yet.
So, I guess I will have to watch ExMachina, just so I have something to talk about tomorrow!
See ya tomorrow. ![]()
