Lew Newmark was born on July 25, 1957- which by the way makes me 50!
I’ve only been blogging for a bit more than a year now, but I really enjoy what I’m writing here in these blog posts.
I fell in love with comics ( like most young, impressionable kids ) at a very early age, probably about seven years old, and my first ” comic ” was really a black and white Marvel mag featuring the Silver Surfer, and I will admit that I did not fall in love with comics because of the stories, I fell in love with them because of the art.
My love for the art in those comics led to my learning to draw and wanting to have a career in comics as a comic book artist, but that never happened. Luckily, my love for this particular printed medium has only grown over time.
I also grew up on cartoons, and I will make the distinction here and say ” American Cartoons ” and I make this distinction here because of my growing admiration for the phenomenon called Japanese Anime, which make no mistake in many cases far outdistances itself from it western counterpart.
Another part of Japanese culture I am exploring is Manga, which I have to admit I always approached with a kind of predjudice, due to my total immersion in the American comics on which I was raised.
The first Manga comic series I am reading right now is ” Doll “, which as of this writing consists of six books, and I’m getting ready to read book three.
About my blog….My blog is all about the things I consider fun ( especially at my age! ) from playing CCG Games and Video games to sharing my reviews on the latest Anime I might be watching and maybe once in a while delivering something entertaining and informative all at once to you my readers!
