Marvel Comics Siege Issue#1
I just picked this comic up yesterday ( yes I know, I did not get comics on Comic Book Wednesday! ) and I have to say, I have not been this impressed with a Marvel comic since the Death of Captain America.
I remember seeing a short preview of this series and it was at best just a teaser for this first full blown issue!
So what’s the big deal here anyway?
Well, Norman Osborn…yes that Osborn with a Green Goblin in his past is the director of Hammer, and is the team leader of the Dark Reign Avengers, whose members also include The Sentry and the God of War, Ares.
Add into this disastrous mix, the Mighty Thor’s evil half brother, Loki who just happens to be one of Osborn’s confidants, has brought a plan together.
In case you dear blog reader are unaware, Asgard has returned..and has come to Midgard ( that’s Earth for the rest of you! ) and along with Asgard has come the newly resurrected Thor, who has been resurrecting his fellow asgardians ( including the fair Lady Sif ) whose very essences were found inside the mortal coil of many humans, and all the while Loki was spinning his deceitful web, as his people went to live for a short time in Latveria, under the auspices of one ” Victor Von Doom “, that would be Doctor Doom, just in case you weren’t aware.
Loke and the good doctor, would do a few ” experiments ” on some of the asgardian populace, turning them into murderous, organic robots.…
and then we come to this..Asgard’s people are returned to their floating home, in the skies of Oklahoma, less one human and asgardian goddess, thanks to the mechanization’s of Doom & Loki…
Now Loki, again trying to manipulate the fates of men and gods alike, has spoken with one Norman Osborn, and set into motion events that will effect the whole of the Marvel Universe ( at least one would think that when ” Gods ” are involved, a whole Universe would be effected! ) using one of the ” Warriors Three “, the Voluminous, Volstagg as a catalyst ( and excuse ) to trigger an all out assault on Asgard, bypassing even the President of the United States, who is screaming bloody murder, and saying that Osborn is ” Out of Control ”
Osborn and his ” Avengers ” and all of the power of the villains of the ” Initiative ” bring their groups to bear on an all out ” Assault ” on Asgard, over the skies of Oklahoma…
Okay, at this point, my thought is this will be Marvel’s ” A” level event for 2010, and it’s other baby, ” Fall of the Hulks ” will more than likely be subjugated to a ” B ” status event…which might not be such a terrible thing for Marvel, as they are having to contend with the juggernaut that is DC comics uber…Blackest Night!
