Sex And Your Comic Book: Part Three Sex Really Does Sell

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

Hey there!

Uncle fanboy here, and welcome to part three ( and the final part ) of my series titled ” Sex And Your Comic Book “, and if you happened to miss the first two parts, well here they are for you listed below…

I’m going right for the jugular with part three,  as I want to really get down to just how much we actually see of the female figure adorned on the covers of lots of comics that are on the comic racks of today’s comic book store.

Here are just a few of the titles that I see weekly..

Let’s start off with a company called Zenescope Entertainment and their title…

Grimm Fairy Tales

following are a few of the covers from the series so far…

Okay, so the first three covers show the following…a sexily clad Red Ridding Hood, possibly Goldilocks, laying almost naked on a bearskin rug, and what really caught my eye was the ” Halloween Special ” cover with a scene that I seem to remember from the television series ” Bewitched “, maybe some of you older readers might recognize somewhat, and while I have never read one of these comics, I have to ask myself, just what these scenes have to do with any tale that the Brothers Grimm may have ever penned?

Frank Cho

I want to point out immediately, that I enjoy see Frank Cho’s work, and here are a few choice examples below of those works…

Here are three different covers to some of Frank’s work..a Liberty Meadows cover, the ” Back End ” of Ms. Marvels business, and a cover to issue #1 of the limited series Shanna The She Devil, of which I enjoyed immensely.

Cho’s female physique work…excellent, and of course sexy…but does it compel you to buy one of his comic works?

Tarot: Witch Of The Black Rose

I just want to preface what this title is about…

Tarot is a beautiful and powerful young witch of the Order of the Black Rose who fights against the forces of darkness that are attempting to bring harm to the world.

Jim Balent is probably one of ( if not ) the most recognized artist today drawing the female figure…I remember looking at his work on DC’s Catwoman and not being able to take my eyes off of those pencils, but now a days, Balent’s art is something that has become for ” Adults Only ” viewable…just check out a few of these covers…

I did indeed buy two issues of this title just to see if what I thought I might find inside was…inside, and it was!

The images that were inside these two issues are just not pictures I want to include here on this blog, even considering the topic of this series of posts, so for you older readers, just use your imagination.

Now to just kind of drive my point home, I was at the comic shop today, and I was looking for just what I felt was the most provocative ” Cover ” that I could find…and there were lots!

So, just what cover caught my discerning eye…

Basement Studios

Cavewoman Red Menace Special Edition, and here is the cover..

cavewoman

And just what was it about this cover that made this my pick, well just take a look at the backside on this girl, and the view of the front isn’t too bad either!Okay, so there wasn’t alot of ” Talk ” in this third part to this series, and there was reason for this…there wasn’t a need for much talk on my part, as I felt that the pictures said a ” Billion Words “,l and frankly, I think that the pictures say what was on my mind when starting this series in the first place..can these images possibly influence whether you might buy a comic or not…you bet your cash it can…because even in comics, Sex Does Sell!
