Funimation’s ” Aquarion ”

Hey there everyone.

Well, when I first acquired this first sea­son set, I thought that this was going to be a unique series…

WRONG!

Here is the basic premise from the offi­cial website..

When the shadow angels invade after 12000 years of slum­ber, human­ity is held cap­tive by fear and shear alien dom­i­nance. Eleven years after the great cat­a­stro­phe dec­i­mated the world,most of those left are just scav­engers, dirty and starv­ing in the streets.

There is hope however..Mechanical Angel Aquarion.

There are ten char­ac­ters who are try­ing to be the ” A ” team if you will who can actu­ally pilot the Aquar­ion mech, and it gets rather con­fus­ing and after a while inaine to actu­ally have to fol­low this robot soap opera.

To make mat­ters worse for this series, there is a rather ten­u­ous rela­tion­ship between brother and sister..

• Sil­via De Alisia-Thinks that her brother, Sir­ius is the rein­car­nated ” Apollo ”
• Sir­ius De Alisia is the nobel older brother of Sil­via, who is ” Not The Rein­car­nated Apollo..

The catch here is that who­ever is the rein­car­nated Apollo, is the ” Solar Wing ” and in this case, it’s not Sir­ius, but rather ( oddly enough ) the char­ac­ter Apollo, who is found in one of the cities, scav­eng­ing for food.

Apollo, is shown to be able to actu­ally man the Aquar­ion, due to his actu­ally being the solar wing.

And the other thing that just turns me off to this series is how the char­ac­ters react when ” They Merge ” to form the Aquar­ion mech in it’s dif­fer­ent com­bat configurations…it’s almost sex­ual in nature as to how the char­ac­ters act dur­ing the merge…which I just find very dis­turb­ing con­sid­er­ing that one of these char­ac­ters can’t be more than twelve years old ( Sil­via De Alisia ) who just is dying to feel what it’s like to ” Merge ” with her brother ( Sir­ius De Alisia ) sorry…this is just a bit much for me to take.

All in all, I can­not rec­om­mend this series, and I know that there is a part two to this series, but I have no inten­tion to pick this one up.
