Hey there everyone.
Well, when I first acquired this first season set, I thought that this was going to be a unique series…
WRONG!
Here is the basic premise from the official website..
When the shadow angels invade after 12000 years of slumber, humanity is held captive by fear and shear alien dominance. Eleven years after the great catastrophe decimated the world, most of those left are just scavengers, dirty and starving in the streets.
There is hope however..Mechanical Angel Aquarion.
There are ten characters who are trying to be the ” A ” team if you will who can actually pilot the Aquarion mech, and it gets rather confusing and after a while inaine to actually have to follow this robot soap opera.
To make matters worse for this series, there is a rather tenuous relationship between brother and sister..
- Silvia De Alisia-Thinks that her brother, Sirius is the reincarnated ” Apollo ”
- Sirius De Alisia is the nobel older brother of Silvia, who is ” Not The Reincarnated Apollo..
The catch here is that whoever is the reincarnated Apollo, is the ” Solar Wing ” and in this case, it’s not Sirius, but rather ( oddly enough ) the character Apollo, who is found in one of the cities, scavenging for food.
Apollo, is shown to be able to actually man the Aquarion, due to his actually being the solar wing.
And the other thing that just turns me off to this series is how the characters react when ” They Merge ” to form the Aquarion mech in it’s different combat configurations…it’s almost sexual in nature as to how the characters act during the merge…which I just find very disturbing considering that one of these characters can’t be more than twelve years old ( Silvia De Alisia ) who just is dying to feel what it’s like to ” Merge ” with her brother ( Sirius De Alisia ) sorry…this is just a bit much for me to take.
Just take a look at the ” Merge Sequence ” video below and decide for yourselves!
All in all, I cannot recommend this series, and I know that there is a part two to this series, but I have no intention to pick this one up.
I would welcome anyone else’s opinion on this series, so please your a comment or question here.
Thanks
Lew
