Sheila ( Jube ) Lewis Thrash’s Anime

While every­one has their own opin­ion as far as Anime ( and any­thing asso­ci­ated with Anime ) is con­cerned, I found a post by Sheila Lewis par­tic­u­larly dis­taste­ful and so I am point­ing this one out to all Anime fans who read my blog.

Her is a snip­pet of her post and my short response…

” I sud­denly remem­bered how much I hate anime. The more I thought about it, the faster I filled with hate. With all the hat­ing came increased anger at the real­iza­tion that not only is anime out there, but they are stick­ing it in my games now! And not the good stick­ing it in like “oh noes you got your choco­late in my peanut but­ter”, but the bad stick­ing it in like Richard Gere walk­ing out of a pet store with a cage full of gerbils. ”

” Those big inno­cent eyes, ginor­mous h(.)(.)ters and school uni­forms so short they’d be ille­gal in most places. I tell you this much, if my kid tried to walk out of the house with skirt hiked up around the neck, and boobs hang­ing out of a Z28 bra, I’d lock them in the base­ment until they were 30. But it’s just car­toon, right, so that makes it okay. ”

Hey there. I am almost 52 years old. I read and write about comics, and Anime and Anime figures .

First let me men­tion that not all anime hap­pens to reflect your view…” Ergo Proxy ” and ” Trin­ity Blood ” are just two exam­ples of anime that just flies in the fact of what you hap­pen to refer to, never mind any ” Hayao Miyazaki ” film ever made has no aspects of the type of anime that you refer to, and of course there are some Anime that do.

But let’s be hon­est here, some video games have come to life solely due to their anime coun­ter­parts. I find that you have a very short sighted view of anime in gen­eral, but I do respect your point of view.

Now, as I stated in my response, every­one is enti­tled to their opin­ion, but I really can­not for­give short sight­ed­ness on the part of a writer tak­ing aim at what I feel is ( in most instances ) an art form.
