” Hulk Smash! ” My Review of the New Incredible Hulk

Hey Everyone!

Just came back from the new Will Smith movie ” Hancock “, not what I expected and it was a good movie…but that’s not what we are here to read about are we?

I had questioned ” Why we even needed another Hulk ” remake, after what I thought was a decent job by Ang Lee? I was under the impression that the new ” Hulk ” was going to be a total re-boot of the franchise…

Wouldn’t be the first time that I was wrong.

The movie seems to take place after the events of the last movie ( with a little license of course. ) with our hero Dr. Robert Bruce Banner ( Edward Norton ) living in Portugal, doing menial work in a bottling factory, trying to keep his blood pressure in check, and his alter ego at bay….

Meanwhile, General Thunderbolt Ross ( William Hurt ) continues with his obsession of hunting down Banner, who he feels is total Government Property, and takes on a British Soldier named Emil Blonsky ( Tim Roth ) who after having his first encounter with the green behemoth during a botched capture attempt, volunteers to become involved in the same sort of ” Super Soldier ” program as Banner had, and after responding well to the serum treatments, decides that he wants to ” up the ante ” and thus turns into the creature that will be known as the ” Abomination “, but not without us getting a sneak peek at a future villain/adversary ” The Leader “.

Meanwhile, Bruce Banners ex-girl friend Betty Ross, Thunderbolt Ross’s daughter does not know that Banner is still alive, and finally after what is just a chance glimpse of Banner in a restaurant that they both used to frequent, are reunited together.

Without telling too much else about the plot line ( as I’m sure that if you haven’t seen the picture as of yet, you have seen more than enough trailers to kinda figure out what happens ) there is a lot of respect paid to the original Incredible Hulk Television series, such as the theme music, the scene with Banner ( Norton ) in the same kind of chair that the tv Banner ( the late Bill Bixby ) was also in, along with the cameo by Big Lou Ferrigno.

And let’s not forget some of the same things that we have come to know from the comics, such as the Hulk putting out the fire that was in the Helicopter that carried Betty Ross, just by slamming his massive hands together to extinguish the fire, and just his total domination in the end of the Abomination, just when you think that it is all over for the Hulk, he still shows that the angrier the Hulk gets, the stronger he gets.

All in all, this is a much better movie ( god I hate being wrong ) than Ang Lee’s first attempt at the franchise, and if this is Marvel’s re-boot to re-invigorate the franchise, and this is a pretty damn good start, and actually worth the price of the movie ticket, and trust me, with the price of gas ( I’m still pissed at the pump! ) and food and all that we are experiencing now a days, trust me I hate spending money on a ticket and than not liking what I just viewed!

This was one to see in the theatre, and not wait for the dvd later.
