A figure of revenge and retribution…if there is someone who you have a grievance with, just go to your computer and look up the web site…Hell Correspondence..and type in the name of the person who you choose to take vengeance against…and just click …submit…do you feel a presence with you in your room…is someone behind you…turn around and see….
The Hell Girl
I have watched the first three discs of this series, and to be quite honest about it, I’m not really that impressed with it, and I was really expecting to enjoy this series more.
First, I found the characters to be somewhat flat…not very interesting at all.
I found Ai to be very aloof, and her character portrayal very repetitive, which just made her character very unlikeable for me. The scenes of her taking vengeance on someone’s behalf were just flat out boring and repetitive, I mean how many times can you watch the same scene of this little child ferrying some tainted soul into hell?
The other characters were also very uninspiring and happen to be Ai’s assistants…
Wanyuudou - Who when in human form takes on the appearance of an older man, who’s attire is very out of date.
Ichimokuren - Often appears in human guise, and shows an interest in humans and their affairs…and can sometimes be a bit vain.
Hone Onna - Devestatingly beautiful in the traditional garb of the geisha, Onna often dresses in casual clothes when she wants to mix in the human world.
There are two human characters that move the story along somewhat…a father & daughter…
Hajime Shibata and his young daughter Tsugumi….
Tsugumi seems to have a sort of affinity with Ai, and can sometimes see events through hell girl’s eyes, after somehow forming a mysterious bond with one another…
Hajime starts to find out the truth about hell girl, after finding out the truth about the hell correspondence web site, and tries to prevent those seeking vengeance from seeking out the services of the hell girl.
My problem with this series is that it just did not get me by the end of the third disc, which just says ( for me anyway ) that I will not find anything more interesting here to hold my attention.
I’m sure there has to be more to Ai’s story, I mean how did she come to be responsible for the task of ferrying the souls of the damned into hell…I guess I will never find this out.
Sorry Funimation, but Hell Girl just left me wanting…something…anything…but just didn’t bring anything to the table for me.
