Iron Maiden- Friday March14th, The Izod Center

First, let me say that this was a great concert, and it was also my first time seeing Iron Maiden in a live concert setting.

That being said, Maiden played for two hours, after Steve Harris’s daughter and her band opened up for Maiden. Now I know that it is great to be able to give your child a leg up, but I have to say that I know this band can definitely play a concert by themselves for three hours, so I was a bit disappointed that it was not an all Maiden concert, but that being said it was non stop classic metal ( something we don’t really hear too much of anymore ) with all of their classic songs from the ” Powerslave ” era.

I don’t want to give the whole play list away, but my favorites of the night were ” Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner ” , and ” Run To The Hills “, and of course the explosions, the stage itself, and the lighting were just fantastic, and of course the appearance of ” Eddie ” made the show.

The band itself were really tight, and had lots of energy. Bruce Dickinson’s vocals were just great, and his banter with the sold out crowd at the Izod Center, did not feel forced or contrived, but rather like he was talking to friends that hadn’t seen one another for quite a while.

The only problem I had were with the seats, I thought they were decent seats and of course they wound up being “Nose Bleeders “, and my view of the stage was just terrible.

In the end, this did not detract from what was an enjoyable concert, and just a heads up, Maiden will be doing three other dates here…one at Madison Square Garden, one at the PNC Bank Arts Center, and one show at the Susquehanna Bank Centre. All three shows are in June, so check for tickets now, because this is a show not to be missed.
