I Am Legend- The Comic Adaptation-My Thoughts
Posted by 54071 in : Comic Reviews , add a comment
Hi There.
I Am Legend, a story by Richard Matheson was adapted into a graphic novel by Steve Niles and with art by Elman Brown
and published by IDW.
I have to admit that I saw this publication in my local comics shop, Main Street Comics for several years before I finally took it home. Of course it didn’t hurt at the time that I was going to go to see the movie with Will Smith ( which I wound up not seeing ) but that doesn’t matter, what does matter is that after owning the book for about two months, I finally finished it.
Now to be fair, the artwork by Brown was just fine, but that’s about all I found likable about this adapted tale.
Making Vampirism into a disease, and trying to find a common denominator to explain said disease, and possibly find a cure for this disease just did not ring true for me, and kinda takes the whole Vampire, Horror idea and kills it for me.
And to be honest, the story just did not hold my interest and I found alot of the story pretty repetitive after a while, and the ending of the tale just makes the title of the tale ( at least for me anyway ) the worst of cliques.
Now, I have never read Matheson’s original piece of literary work, and hopefully the original work is much better than the adapted work presented here.
And as far as the movie goes, I’ll have to wait till it comes out on dvd and see it then, and I can only hope that the movie is much better that the written work that it is based on.

Rest In Peace Heath Ledger
Posted by 54071 in : Uncategorized , add a commentThe sudden death of Heath Ledger has been in the headlines for several days now, and I am not going to say too much about his death here in these pages. Rather I will point you to my friend John Bierly’s blog for more info and any updates about the passing of Heath Ledger.
I wrote a small comment about Ledger’s passing and my feelings about it here at John’s blog.
Anime Figures-Too Sexy for American Culture? January 24, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : Anime Figures , 3 comments

Hi everyone!
I have a question for all of you… are the above figures sexy?
Are they a little sexy?
Very sexy?
Too sexy?
Or not sexy at all?
Well my friends that is my question …and I think that your answer really depends on whether or not you are from the US or your from Japan…
Let’s delve into this a bit more shall we…
First, I have to say that some of the figures I have come across in the time that I have been selling Anime figures have been in a word…maybe…Provocative…a pretty safe term I think.
While some figures have been down right sexy and erotic, maybe even Pornographic…especially the figure below…

or is this figure just a beautiful, artistic representation of the human body?
What’s that saying about beauty being in the eye of the beholder?
In japan, this is just another figure that is mass produced for market consumption, and quite frankly, while I’m sure that the above figure would also be considered sexy there, I’m not sure if it is considered taboo there…so what exactly am I saying here…
I’m saying that Japan and American Culture is the Real Continental Divide.
Or to state this another way, the culture that is a part of where you happen to live will really determine your answer to the question concerning what is just sexy or what is taboo.
In my next few posts about this subject, I will look further into the differences in cultures in terms of Anime figures and Anime in general, but here is another figure to pique your interest and lend more fuel to the already burning fire…

Guitar Hero Legends-XBOX 360 January 22, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : Video Game Reviews , add a commentHi there.
Here is my first review on a game for the XBOX 360 called Guitar Hero Legends.
Now I have seen tons of reviews for this and other Guitar Hero installments for the Playstation 2 and the other systems, but I thought I would give you my take on this game from a different perspective…
First, I play an instrument…the drums. I don’t play in a band, and this is a hobby for me…a way to test myself and see how far I can push myself and progress. I enjoy this immensely…
Now, I play the drums, not the guitar…so this is the appeal of the game for me…trying to coordinate my little fingers like I would my hands…not an easy task.
I got this game back around the Christmas holidays, and I was drawn to this edition because of the commercial with Slash…yes I was hooked after the commercial.
And I made sure that I ordered the one with the Les Paul Guitar.
My daughter’s boyfriend Brett and I enjoyed the game alot on Christmas Eve and we both took turns playing and beating the the Guitar Duel Bosses, and I finally beat the head boss a few days later.
Of course I did this on easy
Some of these tracks I’m very familiar with…
ZZ Top’s La Grange
Aerosmith’s Same Old Song and Dance
Heart’s Barracuda
Pat Benatar’s Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Kiss’s Rock and Roll All Night
This is just a small sampling of some of the songs available…my favorite…
Pearljam’s Evenflo
I just love to play that song!
And I guess for me the other thing is the fact that this is supposed to be a game targeted for kids, because of how they(or you ) look , while holding a plastic guitar that doesn’t have strings, but buttons that you have to push that coincide with the notes of the song your playing…but you see…that is the real draw of this game…being able to rock out in your living room to some of the best songs ever recorded on vinyl ( for all of you new people, vinyl was what we older folks used to listen to our music on and played on a new fangled thing called a record player!) without having any real talent what so ever, and thus this drummer can become a guitar god….in the comfort of my own home!
This game is highly addictive and highly recommended, and if you haven’t experienced the feeling of this game, deny yourself no longer and lay down the bucks and get this game right now, and you can be a guitar hero too.
Not the post you were expecting! January 21, 2008
Posted by 54071 in : Uncategorized , add a commentHi there.
I’m sorry that the posts have been erratic for a few days, but I have been either involved in a course about blogging, or quite frankly I have just not been feeling well enough to write anything here.
It’s funny, but when I was doing all the running back and forth to Brooklyn during my mothers illness, I felt basically fine, except for a few bouts with my asthma…unfortunately, with the colder weather hitting where I live I seem to have some major problems with my sinus’s, and the asthma has of course gotton worse with the colder weather, and something else has started to happen to me ( I won’t talk about this problem, but I got some supplements to deal with this latest prob )
Also, as you can see, I am trying out different themes for the blog, and I am really happy with the one you are presently viewing, so it will be here for a while.
I am also looking to have a total web design redo in the future, to reflect more of what this blog is about.
Also, in the future I will be concentrating more on Anime and Anime figure posts and Videogame reviews.
And I did not forget about the posts that I had promised, they will be coming in a few days…The Guitar Hero review on Tuesday and I expect to have a post up on the latest anime or figures or both, and expect a post dealing with Anime figures and American and Japan culture.

A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import!
The XBOX 360 sequel to DOA XTREME takes the players beyond combat, beyond volleyball, and into additional beach activities, such as personal watercraft races, gambling, and more! All the while, still looking as hot as can be in a variety of stunning beach attire!
