Hospitals & Doctors & Tests = Frustration!

Posted by 54071 in : Uncategorized , add a comment

Good Morning.

After waiting for four days to get the results of a biopsy done on my Mom’s lung on Monday, I finally get a call back from the doctor who performed the procedure to tell me that the biopsy was not conclusive…

In other words, I still have no idea what exactly this mass on my Mother’s lung is at this point!

In the meantime, she is still on a respirator, with a Trachea Tube in her throat, instead of tubes entering her mouth. I went down to Beth Israel on Thursday, and arrived there just in time to be told that they were taking her to surgery to have the Trach put in.

My frustration with what has happened to my Mom continues to grow as the weeks are passing by.

I am again getting ready to make my trip to Brooklyn this morning to see her, and speak with the head Doctor overseeing her case.

Again, I apologize to anyone coming here today, expecting to find a post about Comics or one of the other things I have in the works, only to find my writing again about my Mom, and what myself and my family are having to deal with right now.

I wish that writing this post today, had the same therapeutic effect for me as the one I wrote just the other day, but I have found myself frustrated at every turn, over the past few weeks as my Mothers hospital stay lengthens, and my choices concerning her care are becoming more complicated.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have relisted the Inoue Takuya: Chichinoe figure from Orchid Seed. The price is a bit higher, due to my ordering thru a different distributor but she is still offered at a pretty competitve price point.

To find out more or just to order  Chichinoe, just click her picture, and you will be taken to her listing in my store.

I just wanted to let anyone reading to know that I will try to do a real post by the end of this weekend. I am going back to Brooklyn tomorrow for a short visit to the hospital to see my Mom, and than I will be returning there on Saturday morning to stay till Sunday.

I am awaiting the results right now of a biopsy of a  mass that is on my Mom’s lung. Naturaly, I am quite on edge.

I never meant Fanboy@50 to be a place to talk about this type of matter, but right now, I find this to be kind of therapeutic and helpful for me right now.

As far as the post that will be finished, it will be the last part of my article about Magic the Gathering.

Again,my thanks to all who have taken the time to just drop me a line to send their well wishes. It is really appreciated, and helps me keep going.

Another trip to see my Mother June 22, 2007

This will probably be my last post for several days. I just got a call a little while ago from the doctor who is overseeing my mother’s case in the city, and I was told it would be a good idea to see my Mother now, and maybe find out what her wishes are about her care.

I hope everyone reading this post, takes some time to hug your parents, your children, and your significant others. I have lost so much time with my mom, because of where she is and where I am.

I just lost my Dad, a while ago. This August will be two years. Five days after my birthday. It feels like just yesterday.

My heart is shattering as I write these words, and the tears fall down my cheeks.

Thank you for reading my blog, and for your understanding in this matter.

Spawn ” Godslayer the Series ” issue#1

Posted by 54071 in : Comic Reviews, Comics , add a comment

Okay, another thing being done early!

First, I really did not think when I first read the graphic one shot of the same name, that it warranted a comic book of it’s own, so when I had first read that this would become a monthly ( for now anyway ) I was a little surprised, and I thought to myself that maybe I as wrong in my earlier assessment of the comic.

And so with a little trepedation, I picked the first issue up of this new series ( one week later, after it’s release to the comics shops ) and basically the series picks up where the one shot left off…

well…sort of.

This story begins with a prelude in the lands of ARCADEA, a living flame winds it’s way around this pastoral realm.

This flame is actually Tybalt, the herald of the gods. He has come to warn the Arcadean gods of the death of the goddess Llyra, destroyed by Bairn, the cursed Spawn who is the godslayer. And while the gods are being warned, we go to the Crown of Orn…

Where we see over the ocean, the godslayer, upon his ship. And Bairn is not alone on the vessel, with him is his true love, Neva….who he had slain…along with the goddess Llyra in the one shot!

As always, death isn’t always death within the realm of the comic book. I guess at first that we are to assume that Neva is a spirit, and that Bairn is unable to see or hear her impassioned cries for just a hint that he knows she is even present with him on his death craft.

What strange hell have you damned me to? ” Neva recites, as we see a scene that kind of reminds me of one of the scenes from The Lord of The Rings, The Return of The King, as we are taken to Bairn’s stronghold, where we, along with Neva are able to see some of the treasures he has gathered from the spoils of his god slaying.

I’m not going to go any further, as far as the storyline itself, because I don’t want to ruin it for someone who picked up this one and actually wants to read it without my help.

What I will say is that the only one back for the ride this outing from the first book, is Brian Holguin, who again supplies the plot.

Art this time is provided by Philip Tan, who does an adaquite job with pencils, that at times are a little reminiscent of Corbin’s work.

Tan also provides the inks along with Jeff De Los Santos

I’m not going to say that the comic is a total loss, but for myself, it is a bit too busy for my liking.

I would have enjoyed this first issue much more, if the focus had been more on just two aspects…

1) Either a better focus on the gods of Arcadea or more story devoted to the lives and the people of the Kingdom of Uhmber.

2) The motivation behind Bairn’s being used as a tool of destruction of the Gods.

All I’ll say is that I hope that I see something more in the next few issues of this comic.

Okay, I decided when I got home from a hectic day at the job, that I would list the

Man Thing ” statue up for auction thru L&K’S Anime Otaku Heaven.

As I wrote in the listing, I’ve had this statue on display in the display case in my home office for a little more or less than a year now, but I have to make room for Thor so….up for sale Man Thing goes.

Here are a few picks of the statue below…

Thor Returns in July! June 19, 2007

Posted by 54071 in : Comics , add a comment

Thor returns to the Marvel Universe in July and is brought to you by J. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Coipel.

The series will pick up after the Ragnarok climax.

The thundergod returns to a different Marvel Universe, after the events in Civil War ( you can read my post about Marvels’s Civil War story here ) and I would have to believe will become involved somehow in the World War Hulk storyline.

Questions:

How does Thor deal with the Death of Captain America?

Who picked up the hammer of Thor known as Mjolnir? ( I have an idea that these initials DB might lend a clue )

Thor will go about trying to find the rest of his fellow Asguardians, with mixed results, and from what I have seen on Marvel.com, there will definitely be a big showdown between Thor and old Shellhead ( Ironman for those of you who are too young to remember that affectionate nickname for Tony Stark’s alter ego ) and I hope that Thor kicks his iron behind!

A return to greatness for one of Marvel’s favorite sons is only weeks away!

And just as an aside, if you are as big a Thor fan as I am, take a look at this Bowen full statue, that by the way is sold out!
