Review

I had my daughter pick this up for me on Tuesday when it was released, and I have watched it twice before doing this review.

I have purposely not seen the other two Marvel Animation releases because they are about the Ultimate Avengers and I did not particularly care for the look of these movies and so I passed them up.

When I saw the promo’s for this movie, I was naturally excited about this release.

I am one of those who grew up on the older Marvel Superheroes animated series that ran Monday thru Friday on Channel 9 featuring Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, The Mighty Thor, Namor the Submariner, and of course The Invincible Iron Man, and I remember them fondly, so I look to modern Animation films to capture the excitement of those days ( when it comes to these heroes ) for me again. This film has done so.

This is the origin of how billionaire Tony Stark becomes the man in the armor. The producers take some license with the original origin, and add Chinese mysticism in the resurrection of the Mandarin, one of (if not the most sinister) of Iron Man’s arch enemies.

The story takes you thru the maturation process of Tony Stark, who is your basic playboy, who has little regard ( or time ) for the other people in his life to the Tony Stark who buys up shares of Stark international and hands over the company to his father.

I have come to really appreciate what can be done with the technology that is available to people who do movies and who do Animation films in particular.

For example, the CGI characters where very well done and actually added to the feel of Iron Man and the Demon Elementals that he fights.

With the extra features like the Iron Man Armor gallery, and the trailer for the ” Dr. Strange ” animation movie, this release gets my Fanboy Thumbs Up.

The Invincible Iron Man

released thru Liongate Pictures

Rated PG-13 for action violence and some sensuality

So Many Comic Blogs, So Little Time. January 27, 2007

Hi There and welcome to my first official post on the new Fanboy site.

In trying to keep up with all the happenings in comics, I started to add feeds to my Google Reader ( which I have never used before ) and started to look around for Comic Blogs, Well there are just a ton of people writing about comics… what they like about them, hate about them and more…

so I have decided to just make a small list here of what blogs I have seen so far ( and I’m not saying I will continue this list in the future…but one never know’s..) and the list goes something like this;

About Comics

Written by Aaron Albert and housed on the About.com website. A basic ” what is new ” in comics release’s and new storylines and such.

Around Comics

A well done site that features a ” show podcast ” , which I intend to listen to at some point in time in the near future.

Polite Dissent

What is interesting about this site blog is that it is run by a family practice doctor, who brings what I feel is a unique perspective to his site by pointing out the ” Medical Aspects ” found in comics, with features like ” Your Physic Nosebleed “, and ” Comics and Medicine ” I find the site highly entertaining and worth the read.

Welcome to Fanboy! I originally had the site up a few days ago, but since I know nothing about uploading the ” skins or templates “, I had this site’s slq all screwed up.

Luckily ( and with lots of crying and tech support ) I have Fanboy back up, and for now I’m just going to be writing!
